Third Street Promenade

Third Street will be undergoing some noticeable improvements. Considered the "gateway" from the Caltrain/VTA Transit Center to Downtown Morgan Hill, Third Street is the last remaining unimproved link between the Caltrain/VTA Transit Center. The City of Morgan Hill received a grant for $1.7 million from the Metropolotan Transportation Comission (MTC) for streetscape improvements to Third Street. The proposed improvements are designed to encourage pedestrian, bicycle and transits trips.

Third Street Promenade Plan approved by Morgan Hill City Council on November 5, 2008.

Some of the exciting new features to Third Street include:

wide, tree lined sidewalks
new curbs and gutter
colored concrete and special paving
midblock crossing
removable bollards at midblocks crossing
bulbouts at intersections
bicycle lanes
pedestrian scaled street lighting
narrow traffic lanes
parallel parking
street furniture
